Servers are currently down in preparation for the world-wide official launch of Elder Scrolls.  If you haven't already pre-purchased The Elder Scrolls Online, do it soon!

Why?  You get pre-order bonus stuff - more of this is covered in the official FAQs found here.  I recommend the Imperial Edition pictured below.  The Horse for $1 (in-game gold) is worth it in time savings alone.  If not, you have to save $17,500 gold to purchase your first mount from the stables.  (That's a lot of cash to save up starting out).  Plus, your first $400 in-game gold should be used to upgrade your bag from the bag vendor in town (gives you 10 extra slots).
